The UltraCamX, manufactured by Vexcel GmbH, a Microsoft company, is a 216 megapixel, large format, aerial mapping camera that employs a total of 13 CCD arrays. This aerial camera system is available for assignments to Aerial Archives clients for custom aerial photography assignments at very competitive pricing.

A single frame is analgous to a film image at a format of 23cm x 15cm scanned at 15µ with the advantage of digital capture and no grain resulting in exceptional image quality.

A single UltraCamX frame will cover approximately .6 square miles at a 2.2" pixel size, 2.6 square miles at a 4.3" pixel size and 6 square miles at a 6.5" pixel size. An area of up to 42 square miles can be covered in a single frame with the UltraCamX, with a resolution of approximately a 17.3" pixel size.

The spectral sensitivity of the near color infrared channel of the UltraCamX is from 690 to 1000nm. Additional information about color infrared aerial photography and aerial thermal imaging is available at infrared aerial photography.

In addition to custom UltraCam flights, Aerial Archives provides clients with existing high resolution archived UltraCam aerial photography that covers many US metro markets with particularly in depth coverage of California markets. Most of this imagery has a 6" pixel resolution with some flights at a 3" pixel resolution.
